The author’s intention and overall messages are in the right place, but the execution is lacking. This book could be edited down to around 200 pages and it would do wonders for pacing.
However, from that point on the book suffers from over-explanation and loads of repeated information. Up until the first long conversation in the conservatory, the story kept good pace and the elements were unfolding nicely.
